Chanel's Spring / Summer make-up collection 2010

Mulain is always up for a leetle bit of Chanel...loved trying all the new Spring / Summer range in Juhu's Dynamix Mall.....MUs Natasha and Virginia had a try before they watched 'Alice in Wonderful' at the PVR...a quick make-up shopping fix. The girls love love loved the new Spring collection as seen above....lovely nail polishes and the colours are muted chic....luxurious as always in a subtle and sophisticated way. Virginia fell in love with the taupe/grey colour nail polish named Attendu (see above)....Natasha not so convinced calling it 'murky'....it's a love/hate thing it seems.....but as Mulain will always tell you ....you cannot really hate anything Chanel do....it's love/love all the way!
Chanel is Chanel is Chanel....Mulain applauds you...

Brilliant brand, brilliant product...a great buy for your professional kit and personal too!

All you need is gloss....

Mulain thinks that Clarins as a make-up brand is far too under-rated...... they're not all about skin care you know... they have some fantastique maquillage!! Check it out.... just on my way out straight from the office and all I've got on to help me look a leetle decent for zee nightlife of Bombay is a slick of their clear lip gloss in 020 and its instant 'fabulousness' darlings! it's all you need really.... alone, over lipstick or team it up with a 'smokey eye' look a la the Sixties... lovely! .. and the best part for all that shine you don't feel like you've got anything on...try and get your hands on one.... it's a must for the handbag for that instant pucker-me-up!
Off I rush with my to-tally kissable lips....Mwah Mulain x

Ruby Woo!

One of our followers, a certain Lady Squirrel, wrote to us about MAC's Red 'Ruby Woo' lipstick ......saying what a classic, fabulous lipstick it is....looks scary, but remember she/he who dares wins....never forget that my darlings....this colour suits blondes, brunettes, Indian beauties...anyone wanting to make a statement, Marilyn Monroe to Marilyn Manson. Try it!...Even if it's in the comfort of your own home at first. That's right, Mulain is saying buy and try at home til you get that all important confidence to wear it..have a feeling you won't look back....as the MAC website says...'stands out on the runway...simmers on the street'.....Mulain thinks they are bang on there.
So Ruby Woo it girls and boys...Woo hoo!

Putting the art into ......

...........plastic surgery!!!!!
Like oh my god...Lyn Ray above has a skincare range in Mexico? Un-be-lievable!

Mulain is flabberghasted!!!

Demi's surgeon I think has an artistic, sensitive approach...
Not that Mulain is pushing anyone into plastic surgery...just saying if you're going to do anything permanent with your body and face...think about it very carefully and make sure you sus out who is going to do it...you want someone who thinks of it as an art form and is proud of their work....Lyn Ray in the above photos is a Mexican TV star and Mulain feels has gone that leetle bit too far..what do you think my friends? Demi has done it well and has a hot boyfriend too....we loo-ve the twitter king Ashton K.
We live in a difficult, fickle, youth-friendly, age-denying world my friends....looking good is paramount these day, image is almost everything! Mulain understands the pressures my dears...don't stress about it. Just keep it real, be as happy with yourself as you can be, remember there is always make-up to fall back on and make you feel fab!
Do check out www.awfulplasticsurgery.com ...it's quite a hoot! Always makes Mulain smile!

NYX

Katy Perry inspired....

Fun and poppy....

Hilary Duff like?

Mulain is loo-vin the pink!
Mulain and the girls have been really getting to know NYX cosmetics http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/. First noticed them in New Beauty Centre, Khar....bright colours and interesting textures at an affordable price. Started testing them out and really find their stuff cute, young, poppy and wearable! Can imagine Katy Perry, Hilary Duff, Avril Levigne, Miley C in this space, it's a young and fun brand....so if you're a young make-up artist starting out or just love make-up NYX could be for you. Pinks really pop, greens are lime to acid to bottle, blues are ABBA to Ocean, blush creams are creamy....we love the mosaic blushes in Cafe, Love and Paradise...a real bargain there....these moscaics are multipurpose blush / shadow in orange, pink and neutral browns. Their brow fixes are good, their eye and lip pencils are good with a variety of colours.
Mulain suggests you head there and play! Try the products out...there is something there for everyone...professional and non!
Makeovers today.....so office busy and buzzing...which we love....all of us wearing some NYX colours too, reminding us still it's Spring, with flowers in our hair...seems the MUs are going for a flowery, bohemian day look.
Mulain wants to know....what's your look?

Put your best face forward

Our MU Natasha recently flew back from South Africa on Emirates and she was telling us how impressed she was with how well groomed the flight attendants were.
Being an ex flight attendant herself with Cathay Pacific Airways, she is always quick to notice how the girls look and present themselves and always stresses the importance of being well groomed at all times..... especially if you are front line staff (..and even if not... )..it speaks volumes about you as a person and who you represent (whether it be yourself or a company...).... so take pride in your appearance my darlings as a lot of first impressions are formed then... from meeetings to interviews, auditions, dates ... you name it... all it takes is a leetle bit of time initially on your part to figure out who you are... what you want to be / look like and then work from there in creating your look.

Today we are blessed (or cursed... depends on how you look at it) by being spoilt for choice with all the products on the market.. with colours and textures to suit any and everyone there are no excuses! ... and so... if it's a look you're after that you think you want but not sure it'll look good on you... think again!

Take the Emirates girls for example.. obviously they have been groomed by professionals and shown certain colours that would work with their uniforms and how to apply them to suit the various nationalities that work there.
From what Natasha noticed was that they all had a look that combined beauty and sophistication... but what really stood out was that although the look was pretty uniform throughout... was the fact that the girls were from about 6 different nationalities... which meant different skin tones, hair colours, facial features and yet each one of them managed to adapt it to themselves whilst still maintaing the uniformity of the look and carried it off beautifully.
The make-up was very classic... simple on the eyes, from shades of taupes and brown to flicks of liner and lashings of mascara combined with lovely rosy cheeks ranging from pinks to peaches to corals and strikingly beautiful red mouths from bright red to deep red to deep corals and rust... all the colours were perfectly suited to match each girls complexion ...and not every girl was a natural beauty but with the right colour and application they all looked like true beauties!... simply marvellous if you ask me... I think our airlines and front line staff need to take a lesson from that.... It's not about piling on the make up ... it's about doing what's right for you.... with the right products for you.... whatever your look....

So think about it people.... stay well groomed and not only will you look good you will FEEL good!

World Beauty

Ok...just when Mulain was getting concerned that the whole world was blending into one, and we were all merging into the same...that global generic glamour look....I went and remembered that it's a big wide world out there....all different colour, shapes, sizes...thank goodness non? Take a look my friends and get inspired.....tattoos, piercings, eye-lines, markings, shapes, colours...open your eyes to world beauty and notice when you watch the catwalks around the globe ......from Milan to Manila, from New York to New Delhi, John Galliano to Pat McGrath.... just how much designers are influenced and inspired! Mulain is asking you today...think about beauty....what is beautiful? It's subjective and personal...all around our global vill-age.

Mulain says use it all in your make-up designs x

Filmfare 2010 make-up looks

Cute and original on the red carpet.....

Very classic Mademoiselle P...
Bipasha looks like she could go onto any red carpet, true global glamour
Stunning look.....what a statement colour carried extremely well...Mulain loves...

Mulain favourite of the night....
Vidya is her own person and looks brilliant, traditional and cool!

Sweet....

Genelia is super-cute and current!

Ravishing statement lips and a fabulous gown...global glamour again

Kajol rocks....brilliant...

Sophisticated and sexy.....Ms. Goswami
Ok...Mulain was asked his take about the Filmfare red carpet looks. Well..... went a-cruisin' on Santabanta to get a good look at the film frat out in force....my goodness everyone was there non? What struck me was the amount of gowns on display, was this Hollywood or Bollywood I asked myself....then I spotted Vidya and Kajol in Indian attire and realised it was the Filmfare 2010 awards.....it was, what Mulain calls a night of 'global glamour'.....most of these ladies (like all the femmes fatales at the Oscars) went for sophisticated, classic, safe glamour. They could have been in Cannes, Toronto, Hollywood.....this is the new India it seems....Genelia looked super cute and fresh, Shahana G looked sexy and cool, Sameera looked stunning in that blue and some dressed in jeans and a t-shirt!
Mulain loves to see the person shining through...with make-up and hair, clothes, jewels....Vidya and Kajol did this Mulain feels and a few others with bright, poppy styles. So generic global glamour is all around us my dears.....what do we think about this....good or bad? Are we losing our identity, merging into a West / East fusion look?
Mulain is going to sleep on that one....we are all heading to a shoot tomorrow so off for my beauty winks...

Star Trek wins the Oscar.....

So Star Trek won best make-up....think Ben Stiller stole the show when he gave the Oscar to the make-up team with an Avatar make-up look....what fun!....Well done all the artists who worked hard on that film.....the team, Barney Burman, Mindy Hall and Joel Harlow all thanked their 40 strong team who helped them win the Oscar. Mulain thinks that is very cool.....any film is a team effort, one little film family non?

We at fat mu were of course rooting for Jenny Shircore....a nomination is still fantastic though...they are all winners I feel.

So Oscars over for another year, back to work and the MUs are loving their make-over sessions that have been launched....such fun we are having with people ....men and women! And shooting too...Natasha MU is currently shooting with a Bollywood hero in South Africa for Garnier...burning away under the hot, hot sun....am sure she will have some great tips for make-up for men in unbelievable temperatures....watch this space. Virginia MU is gearing up for her Thursday shoot, writing make-up tips for some magazines and remembering the MUs in La La land last year....what a year it's been my friends. Busy!

La Streep is La Streep is La Streep....

Brave Madame Bigelow....

Scary kohl eyes SJP....

Mulain loves the dress....and smile...just beautiful....

Short hair rocks Carey!

Statement lips with another leading lady....well done Ms. Bullock...
"Yes it's Ladies night and the feeling's right, oh yes it's ladies night...oh what a night!"...thank you Mr.Kool and the Gang for giving us such great lyrics.....well it's certainly been a ladies day....March 8th...International Women's Day.....the fat mu team spent the day with girls from the Sharanam Centre for Girls in Bombay www.sharanamcentre.org making them up for their dance performances at their celebrations today....great day out and thanks to all our freelancers and team who supported us. Bravo! And Bravo to Katherine Bigelow who won Best Director at the Oscars yesterday....truly a ladies day and night.
Mulain carefully scrutinized the red carpet and really found nearly everyone went for safe, generic, classic glamour...lots of long gowns....strapless chic...bits of Avatar Blue around.....(are we all getting a bit dull?)....a few statement mouths, thank you Sandra Bullock....and arty hair, thank you Patricia Fields. 80s teen star Molly Ringwald looked tres cool and different doing her own thing and young Carey Mulligan holding the torch for those with short hair amongst us....everyone else....sort of blended into the same...maybe it's just me but where was Cher in a fantastic cabaret number, where was Bjork dressed as a swan, Diane Keaton dressed in a tux? Imagination, individual flair? .....Would love to know what you all think my darlings....?
Caio for now...
