Does anyone remember 1988 when Flo-Jo (Florence Griffith-Joyner) became the fastest women in the world, and she is still unbeaten. Mulain fell in love with her, the crowds loved her, the cameras loved her and think nail technicians and artists thanked their lucky stars. Flo-Jo not only created a sensation with her athletic ability but it was also those nails!!!!!! She took nail art and fake nails and put them out there for the world to see! Girls have never looked back. Now it's 2010 and we can't imagine a world without coloured nails, fake nails, pierced nails etc etc. Flo-Jo came onto the scene when a French manicure was considered different and wild! She injected glamour and personality to the world of the athletics and possibly sport, even before Le Beckham was on the scene!
Now at the current European Championships the gals are looking equally snazzy and glam. Hair looks good, polish on nails....and apparently fake lashes have been spotted! What an image conscious world eh? But I guess if they still have the talent looking good at the same time may not be a bad thing......Mulain is just so used to the idea of the female athlete just being an athlete.....admired for the ability not the looks. These ladies of 2010 realise if they look good they 'll get sponsorships and lots of money!!! Think Anna Kournakova.....she put the blonde into tennis! So maybe they are all talented, smart and looking good is the icing on the cake.
Mulain is looking forward to India hosting the Commonwealth games.....watch this space.
