No my dears....

this is not another tribute to Michael Jackson! This is a moisturizing glove, or should say gloves from The Body Shop. Mulain has bought them for his mu-ther as a gift but thought I would tell you all about them. Firstly.....having a 'green', socially-aware mu-ment....one of our followers posted us a Vivienne Westwood link which shows her talking about climate change and the environment and how we ALL mu-st care! And it is so true my loo-verlys.....c'est trop importante we all do our leetle bit non? So today Mulain went to The Body Shop which really does try and help communities who need fair-trade and support. As you put on these cotton, organic gloves, realise they are Community Trade made. Your pack will inform you that you are helping 130 people in Mauritius working for Craft Aid - workers with hearing and learning difficulties.

Now these gloves aim to lock in moisture - you mu-st cover your hands in your favourite moisturizer, slip on the gloves and while you sleep your skin will be deeply and intensely moisturized and left feeling super-baby soft!....Mulain is wondering do they do one for the whole body....that would be fab-u-lous non?

So ....will gift them to Maman Mulain and let you know what 'appens.....and remember....and this is a tribute to MJ....'Heal the world......make it a better place'.........

A green Mulain....

P.S.....Hope you all turn off electricity when you don't need it - don't keep things on stand-by.....you are using up power!!! Turn off your water when you are brushing your teeth!! Share that car trip.....share, care, think and act.....it's all up to us....

P.P.S - Ok checked - no moisture body suites to put on at night - but booties are there for sure.

Monsoon Madness

Is that a road you may ask? River? Road? River? Road?....Our poor cars and feet!!

Mulain is very frustrated with the system today.... the skies have opened up and how... so much rain....! Which is a good thing... Lord knows we need the water... but....can someone please explain to me why Mumbai can never seem to deal with the monsoon? It's not like it comes as a surprise non? It's been visiting year after year at the same time for as long as we can remember and yet... it is always the same story....flooding and roads turning into rivers...traffic jams, cars drowning, people having to wade knee-deep in water... sometimes falling into open manholes... why? Will someone please tell me why this city is STILL not equipped to deal with it?

We are working people and need to get jobs done - the MUs are packing for a shoot and risking our lives and car (poor Jezibel Swift!).....Sounds like we are moaning my darlings, but a leetle rant is to-tally necessary....we pay taxes non? Ok.....Enough - will pretend we are in an old MGM, techicolour picture with Gene Kelly and we'll all pretend we are loving the rain and tap-dancing away......Mulain has put his rose-tinted specs back on......

A very wet and cross Mulain x

Thank you Monsieur Kelly.......

Bruno!

As a complete movie buff, I 'ave been anticipating the opening of SBC's latest creative offering Bruno. Although it has been opening to mixed reviews people are still flocking to see what this latest embarassing, shocking, boundary-breaking character is all about....Bruno assumes the persona of a gay fashionmonger, the self-proclaimed "voice of Austrian youth TV." Originally part of Cohen's cult television series Da Ali G Show, the character of Bruno, cleverly costumed (and wigged!) takes the opportunity to highlight the absurdities of the fashion industry by interviewing unsuspecting fashion icons and other haute couture hangers-on. Mulain just can't wait to see.......the thought of a gay Austrian fashionista running all over the US of A is just too much to imagine.....Mulain is blissfully cringeing already. Apparently Bruno attempts to seduce a onetime presidential hopeful, adopt a black African baby and provokes a near riot at a caged boxing bout in Texas. I think for die hard Ali G / Borat fans only this one......Mulain loves the disguises - what fun and how funny.

Hoping your Monday's were good my friends - the rains have started again in Mumbai.....we were wondering where the Monsoon was......Mwah from Mulain x

Street style

Allo mes amis...! Hope you have all had a good weekend and are ready to face the new week ahead of you.
I know the monsoon is here and all one wishes to do is stay curled up cozy in bed... but that is not to be... so instead why not excite ourselves about starting the week with a leetle va va voom in our lives and not let the wet weather dampen our spirits too!

As you all know our MU Natasha has just recently returned from London and and she cannot stop rambling about all the street fashion in London at the moment and cursing herself for not having her camera on her to share what see saw with us all...

From the sounds of it she was quite blown away by the various retro hair and make up looks that many people are currently sporting and adapting in their day to day lives.... from 80's punk to 60's beehives and bouffants, 50's hair do's a la the T- birds, burlesque make up comme Ditta von Tesse ... the list goes on and on....and so I have listed below a few of our favourite sites for you to have a look at for street fashion from around the world....

www.stylescout.blogspot.com/- for London street style

www.garancedore.fr/en/- Paris and world street style

thesartorialist.blogspot.com/- world street style

Check these out and hopefully it will encourage you to develop your own style and let your inner child come through. We have all played dress up as little children so why must that stop now... dig out your mother's heels, vintage jewels, frocks and maybe even a boa, slap on some red lipstick, a leetle back combing and hairspray perhaps and sculpt your hair into a fabulous monsoon frizz resistant do...
...and then send us your photos...mail@fatmu.com.... we would love to see how creative and stylish you can be..
...and for all you heterosexual men out there...don't feel left out! Men's fashion is in a big way now with constant re-inventions.. so lets see you beat the ladies at their game...

In the meantime we the fat mu team will have our cameras strapped to us and be on the lookout for Mumbai street fashion for you and the world to see.... so stay tuned...

Eve Lom.....

.....'as she done it again? Mulain was brought up in a house of Lom! My mother agreed with the world, the experts, those 'in the know' that Madame Lom made the best cleanser in the world - so simple yet so effective - her skin-care was / is legendary......Well.....seems her new lip-balm is creating waves too. This rich, nourishing moisturising Kiss Mix is great for our poor chapped and dry lips, and also 'as that very important natural sunscreen Zinc Oxide to protect lips from UV rays. Mulain also enjoys the sensation of the tingling menthol, I just loo-ve! You can use it alone as it has a divine shine or for a pretty gloss over lip colour. It's £12.50, available from Space NK, Harrods and lots of other places - keep your eyes peeled for this one.

Mulain is 'appy with anything which makes his lips even more kissable!

Mwah from Mulain.....and thank you Ms. Lom.

Miracle in a mask

The soybean does it again!
Based on a staple health food of fermented soybean which contains Gamma PGA (Poly Glutamic Acid) comes this mask, made with innovative Japanese technology (the Japanese have done it again too!) to hydrate and brighten the skin and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles..
Japan based UMO Inc- creators of the 24 karat gold facial have come up with these gel masks which are simply AMAZING! Just place on and remove once done... fuss and mess free!

Tried and tested by our mu Natasha... who cannot stop raving and expressing shock over the amazing results of this product (her skin actually felt extremely hydrated and looked instantly fresher, brighter and smoother.. those tiny fine lines around the eyes seemed to have vanished and she felt years had been taken off her! Especially with the eye masks!! )
... finally there is something on the market that actually does what it claims to do... and .. you can see instant results!! You only have to leave the masks on for 30- 40 minutes or if you feel you need more hydration you can even leave them on overnight!

Natasha put the eye masks on first thing in the morning, bleary eyed at 6 am on her way to location .. and arrived looking and feeling fresh and sparkly!

What are the side effects you may ask?.. As did I ... as nothing that can give you results like that come without side efffects... what is the saying... 'sounds too good to be true'?...that's what I thought.. and so for you and me, Mulain decided to do a leetle research on this and here's what I found....

Gamma PGA when applied topically claims to instantly hydrate and carry moisture and nutrients into the deepest layers of the skin... and get this... it is ten times more hydrating than Hyaluronic acid (a common ingredient in skin care product and Hyaluron injections are used to smooth wrinkles and fine lines temporarily with effects lasting up to 6 months)... and far more elastic than collagen!
If this is true we can hopefully kiss botox and collagen injections goodbye non.... not only would it be cheaper and much easier to apply.... but also would not leave us looking permanently surprised...( like some actresses we have seen...)... just very temporarily perhaps and that too for the sheer amazement at the genius of this product!

... and it is 100% natural, biodegradable, non toxic and safe for all skin types...( you could eat it even!) what more could a girl want eh?

To read more about it visit:
http://www.beautifultechnologies.co.uk/product.asp?id=12
http://www.happi.com/articles/2008/10/online-exclusive-natto-to-the-rescue

The masks come in Full face mask(3 per box) $28, eye masks( especially brilliant- 7 per box) $45 and Lip masks(8 per box) $ 81.
Available at fine spas around the world. We here at fat mu got them from our lovely friend and colleague Dominie Till - Thank you Dominie for introducing us to this fine product - we are now hooked! Especially to the eye masks - great for de- puffing as well!

So for all you people out there who think they're starting to get on and could use a little help every now and then (never hurt anyone...) try and get your hands on some of these masks and let Mulain know what you think!! xx

50s Pin-up Princess

My darling MU's......Our gorgeous Natasha has some loo-verly images in this month's GQ.......A 50's pin-up theme with fabulous model Indrani Dasgupta and styled by our fat mu friend Arjun Bhasin, who is always a de-light to work with. Please 'ave a look and get inspired by strong brows, a flick of an eye-line and a gorgeous mouth! Plus check out those shoes, think all the fat mu girlies should get a pair....Wow...Can just imagine!

The MU's are having great fun going through all the make-up goodies that came back from London town, serious play time....who would 'ave thought there was a Recession on?.....We are all also trying to avoid the Monsoon showers and all seem to be sporting the 'it's too humid, caught in a shower, wavy-hair look'......Nature is so much bigger than us n'est ce pas?

Babe Cake

Want to go from day to night in 5 minutes flat?.... then this is the perfect thing for you. Another treasure from our beloved Benefit... its the perfect 2-in-1 cake eyeliner, small enough to fit anywhere and perfect for all you ladies (and gents..) out there who need to add a leetle va va voom on the go!

Soft brown for the day and dramatic black for the night. Whether its retro eye lines you're after or dramatic flicks a la Amy Winehouse... this is the product for you.

Complete with 2 colours that suit any skin tone and a compact mirror (just think of the space you'll be saving in your make up bag)... its a smart choice for anyone who loves make up... Professional or not..

All you have to do is dip a finely tipped brush (the one drawback is it does not come with its own brush) lightly in water and mix it in the colour of your choice to a nice consistency ... et voila... you are set to line, flick, smudge or smoke... whatever takes your fancy....

Priced at 15 GBP, this baby's gonna last you for a long, long time to come!

The Bronze Age

What is this contraption you may ask...'tis the new Guerlain terracotta bronzer for men.
But don't despair ladies, it may say for men but its perfect for anyone wanting to get that perfectly natural sun kissed look without any sheen or shimmer in it.
Works for all skin tones without any hints of pinks and oranges which can sometimes come with the cheaper varieties or bad fake tans as we've all seen...!
Tres natural... you can choose how light or how dark you want to go without looking caked up! and... it comes with it's very own bronzing brush!

Mulain highly recommends this product as a definite must have for those days when you look in the mirror and feel you are lacking a certain... je ne sais quoi......it retails at 34 GBP... not cheap I know... but it is one of the best bronzers on the market today. So try it out mes amis and I would love to hear what you all think..

Flutterbug

Our mu Natasha has come back from London with a bag full of make up goodies... one of them being the new 'mini' Shu Uemura eyelash curlers! (she can't stop raving about it )

If any of you are like me.. these things would frighten you....mini or not.... personally they look like torture tools to me, why would I want them near my eyes ... but after hearing Natasha(who even as a make up artist was not a big fan ...until now!) raving about them I had to give it a try and so I did... very reluctantly... et mon dieu... people I am now a convert !!
Thank you Mr. Uemura and the fabulous Japanese technology for giving us this amazing tool that can curl your lashes and literally take them to the moon..! and you don't feel a thing! I think I am in love.....

So what sets these apart from your regular curlers you may ask, well apparently the hinge is based on special japanese technology which gives your lashes a curl with the absolute minimum press... which in turn means your lashes dont take a beating and fall out after long term use (which I guarantee you will be doing once you try these) as you just have to press down gently for literally 1-2 seconds et voila!! Simply swooonderful lashes!

Besides the mini ones are great to work magic even on the smallest of lashes and really work well to curl your outer lashes or any specific areas that might need that little extra oomph... much more precise with better results if you ask me...

They are certainly not the cheapest .. 17 GBP for the mini ones, with one extra silicon rubber pad provided (be careful with those as once lost you can't buy more pads- its a new curler or nothing I'm afraid- one drawback yes, but a small price to pay for the sheer genius of it)...

... and for them to be effective, if you are using them regularly they need to be replaced once a year as the hinge wears out. Worth it mes cheries... trust me on this one... I have not swooned over a product like this for a long time...perfect for those romantic nights with long gazes into each others eyes... sigh....

On that note I will say adieu for now and encourage you to go flutter 'flirt'er ;-)

Shameless Plug

Mulain is again encouraging all Mumbaikers / Bombayites...whatever it is you call yourselves to come and see Anuvab Pal's play - the fat mu gang will be working furiously back stage putting on wigs and moustaches and la rouge of course...... while you laugh and enjoy yourselves out front.

So much rain and flooding last night - Zut Alor! And the monsoons have just begun.....what is to become of our leetle island...a sophisticated swamp? Mulain is off to dry his two mobile phones which drowned in the water......so sad. On a happier note our MU Natasha has returned from London laden with make-up goodies and new devices - you should see the new Shu Uemura lash curlers! Will get her to tell you all about it.

So again...Monsieur Pal ...Bon Chance, Break-a-leg and Mulain sincerely wishes the rains don't wash away your audience!

Glamour Noir

Mulain's favourite Vampire flick.....

Mulain was reading the New York Times this morning and an article about Dark Glamour caught my eye. The fascination with Vampires was discussed from recent teenage glam-doll Buffy to old Bela Lugosi, the theme keeps re-running - we never seem to tire of it.....

Bram Stoker's 1897 Novel on Dracula started a trend in film, tv and comic books for these blood-sucking creatures that keeps on going.
From the 80s classic The Lost Boys to Interview with The Vampire, Van Helsing, the Blade trilogies, Underworld, Salem's Lot, From Dusk Til Dawn, Bram Stoker's Dracula to Dance of the Vampires - going back to the start of filming making to 2009, everyone loves to dabble in the theme and tap into their dark sides - Pitt, Tarentino, Mulain's Keanu, Cruise, Christopher Lee, Hugh Jackman .....it crosses la couleur too....Wesley S in the Blade series and even 1972's puts an African spin on things in 'Blacula'.

My personal favourite however is Monsieur's Roman Polanski's 'Dance of the Vampire' (also called The Fearless Vampire Killers) in 1967 with the tragic Sharon Tate - before she was slaughtered by Manson....just awful!!! But it's 60's glam, Dracula Kitsch at it's best....Mulain recommends this one as a good place to start if you want to tap into the Vampire world and 'ave a giggle at the same time.

On a personal note - if you like the idee of Le Glamour Noir....Go for dark smoldering eyes, dark exotic lips, deathly pale skin, glam it up at night...enjoy your sleep in the day and remember to stay away from garlic!!

For the love of theatre!

VJ Sophie Chaudhury's theatre debut in India with Mulain's darling Kunal Roy Kapur

1-888-Dial-India is the new play by talented writer and all-round comic genius Anuvab Pal. Just loo-ve his work and the fat mu team always 'ave a great time working with him. We have collaborated on 'The Loins of Punjab Presents' (with the equally funny Manish Acharya), Mumbai Calling with Sanjeev Bhasker, his last play with Rahul Dacunha 'Chaos Theory' and now his next offering is opening at St.Andrew's Auditorium on 5th July - you mu-st come people as it is just too funny.....and of course to support the fat mu team - Mulain and gang will be rushing behind the scenes, backstage - putting wigs on and moustaches and extensions and lots of rouge - too much fun!

Ultimate Multi-tasker

Mulain knows we are all still being Recessionistas so is passing on tips on products and techniques to help you all in these trying times..... Madame Arden would be delighted to know her 8-hour Cream creation is a mu-st have in any make-up artiste's bag and is a great product to invest in. It's great for sunburn, glossy lips, repairing dry lips and dry skin anywhere on the body. Use it to keep unruly brows in shapes, to create a sheen on the cheekbones. A fabulous gloss on the eye-lids.....it is also great for 'posh sweat' when filming....run out of sweat jelly? Try 8 hour Cream instead! Works a treat, stays in place and is kind to the skin. It's an all-round winner, mu-ch like myself........Any other uses you have.....let Mulain and the fat mu team know.

Off to set I go...Mulain x

Burlesque Beauty

Ok - the fat mu team are just so enthusiastique about Burlesque Beauty - in our Disney Bollywood dance number we are designing at the mu-ment, we 'ave thrown in a 40s style showgirl look - a Moulin Rouge / Burlesque inspired creation which we all just loved. Mulain is telling you all to try this look at home, get the confidence to wear it and then take the world by storm. You'll need 1) a strong dark mouth - fat mu have created their own colour for this, a retro red with a matt finish, 2) a lovely liquid black liner - we used Bobbi Brown eyeline gel in Black just on the top lash line, 3) a BIG mascara with lots of personality (L'Oreal Shocking Volume) and finished with 4) MAC showgirl rouged cheeks et voila...all set to go! Blonde, brunette, black or red, it does not matter, watch Moulin Rouge or see Dita Von Teese to get excited.
Mulain also thinks an added beauty spot is the icing on the cake - go enjoy and discover the 'sparkling diamond' within....Mulain x
