MU Sara was heading to Lakme fashion week the other day and as she was walking out of fat mu hq to leave, MU Virginia stopped her and quickly added a painted on beauty spot to complete her look. Sound weird? Well Mulain can assure you it was the cherry on the cake! It just quietly popped the look. Wanna try but bit scared?...Chalo start small and delicate on an evening out. There are different ways to apply it...you could sharpen a black or dark brown eye liner pencil and draw one on (depending on your colouring and look you want). Or you could take the end of an eye liner brush and dip it in a gel liner pot and then pop it on the required area? Inglot / Bobbi Brown / MAC options have good options. For placement...by the eye or mouth are popular. Remember start small and have a little practice at home. Mulain promises you that once you get it right, you'll have this invisible, sexy, tantalizing allure...MUUU!

Mulain has been hearing the buzz about Maybelline's Colossal Kajal and so wanted to try it out. The MUs are all fans of Maybelline anyway - what mascaras man!...Oh la la la. Affordable and effective! You'll be pleased to know that the Kajal is also a winner! Woo hoo....Mulain has a spring in his step...so happy to find another fab product to add to our fat mu 'MU-st haves'. So no excuses girls (and boys) get yourselves down to your nearest supplier and pick this up....5 stars!*****..at approx Rs. 150 how can you go wrong yaar!?

Theatre director Karla Singh sent through some lovely behind-the-scenes working shots from her theatre production of 'The King and I' which happened last Friday. All make-up was done by the MU-ettes - well done all of you! Mulain is so, so proud and hope you had fun, fun, fun doing it...;).

MUs for Anna!

My darlings...why not today show our solidarity with super nice guy and fabulous humanitarian Anna Hazare....today thousands of Dabbawalas will strike for the 1st time in 120 years and many people heading to the Azad Maiden today. Woo Hoo India....anti-corruption is on! Can't get there or little to shy to join the madding crowds...why not use make-up for sending out a message of support and paint a flag on your face! C'mon fellow make-up artistes....join the revolution! Go Anna go!

MU-product of the day!

Yet again Mulain highly recommends 'Eight Hour Cream' by Elizabeth Arden. Know we keep saying you MU-st have it in your kit...but here I go again...YOU MU-ST HAVE IT IN YOUR KIT! Mulain was with MUs Virginia and Xavier yesterday shooting with GQ's FYI and both the models they worked on were both so dehydrated and lips a mess...plus working in air-con just wreaks havoc with skin generally but lips too! 'Eight Hour Cream' to the rescue my darlings....smothered their lips while prepping the skin et voila...perfecto lips about 20 mins later....plus also used it on their eyes to create a very sexy, wet look. Me-ow! No excuse for not getting it...get yourselves to Shopper's Stop asap! Don't miss on this one! We will keep telling you ....so you might as well listen na?

Ok Mulain has been watching all the MUs prep today for various projects happening...from Body Art to Burlesque themes to Bronzed Babes to workshops and fashion shows. Mulain wants to know how you prep and research for your shoots / bridals /events / whatever!!?? Mulain hopes you are not just a 'Google Page 1' artist...that means you go on http://www.google.com/ and write in "........" and use the first thing that comes up!!?? If you do my darlings, shame on you!...You have, have, have x 1000000000 to be more than that. You must be different, research in different, interesting and effective ways...see above for some inspiration! Struggling to know what I mean...then you need to come chat with Mulain Auntie and we'll show you the way!

The MUs have been painting, sketching, reading, drawing, trying out products, discussing different textures, colours, shapes...you MU-st be different and innovative and interesting, adding wit and intelligence and your craft in the right way. And fantastic of course.....so go knock 'em dead and make-up the world!! You have the power!

Make-up for a good cause!

X-factor stars 'Jedward' made-up to be victims of bullying....

Mulain came across these 2 pop cuties 'Jedward' with bruises and scratches on their loo-verly faces and wondered what was going on? Well appears these 2 are the faces of an anti-bullying campaign for ISPCC (Irish Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Children) alongside X-factor judge Louis Walsh and Westlife's Mark Feehily. Both want to push these hard-hitting ad campaigns to create awareness for anti-bullying. Mulain thinks it's a great idea ....make-up for a good cause! What do you guys think? Convincing make-ups? Do any of you use your art for a good cause?

Skin Kitchen

Mulain tagged along with MUs Virginia and Sara at the Elle and Bungalow 8 fashion, food and lifestyle with a conscience event the other night. Had a great time chatting with the designers, bumping into old MU friends...really good fun..thank you Elle! We also ran into a lovely little company who were showcasing their natural skincare range...a wonderful smelling lip balm..eucalyptus and vanilla was totally intoxicating and we want to know more! Great book to have in your make-up library

A pretty lady from 1590s...start looking at painting of women, it's our only visual record of them before le camera my darlings...

Mulain thinks that everyone in the world should know about the history of make-up. Of course a make-up artist should know their subject...make-up did n't just happen in the 21st century...it has evolved over thousands of years...Mulain is going to keep throwing useful and interesting make-up and hair info at you my friends, so brace yourselves. An essential and fantastic book is Richard Corson's 'Fashions in Make-up from Ancient to Modern Times'....640 pages jammed with info and styles and concontions and cute little tit-bits. What is fascinating is how women (and men) have always wanted to look good...even 4000 years ago! And amazing at what lengths people went to, to achieve this...even death sometimes (don't think anything has changed really). And as always there has been this battle to look fair and white!

Get this.....Corson tells us that women in Elizabethan days (16th century England) were told that if they did n't want to wear white paint (packed full of poisonous lead) to make themselves 'fair and lovely' or to cover rough skin that they should wash in their own urine or urine mixed with Rose-water...eeeuuuugghhhh. Makes the mind boggle does n't it? Have you heard any interesting and quirky make-up stories from the past? Mulain would LOVE to know....:). So many different theories and ideas at that particular time but Mulain wonders we may laugh but actually what does anyone know about Botox? Or about Parabens in make-up these days? The world of make-up is much safer and it's been tested and tested etc but still do we really know the ingredients in everything or what they do to us. Maybe we choose not to?

...the girl from Ipanema goes walkin'..."....one of Mulain's favourite songs of all time. Today it's MU Natasha's birthday and MU Virginia when she first met Nat nicknamed her TGFI after this song....what a compliment eh? So to celebrate this song and Nat's birthday...MU Sara has created a new make-up look inspired from it. Originally a 60s sound and feel...she has recreated a look in the fat mu academy on MU-ette Jaspreet. It's a 2011 80s inspired Girl from Ipanema. For those of you who don't know the song, don't know where Ipanema is????....LOOK IT UP!! :) ...there you go Mulain has set you homework. So will be posting up the snaps and make-up breakdown on our fb page, keep your eyes peeled for it.

Strike a pose!!!

Vogue, Vogue, Vogue!! One of Mulain's favourite magazines in the whole wide world (especially Vogue Italy!) .....anyway...am digressing....am happy to see MU Sunita's name in print for the fashion feature in this month's Indian Vogue. Make-up artist from UK Emma Osbourn was in-charge of making up an army of women for the 'Family Matters' feature and our loo-verly MU Sunita went in to help her. Great make-ups girls, good on ya!

It's Friday my friends....c'est Le Weekend....hope whatever you're doing it's gonna rock and roll...or maybe you're destressing and relaxing....it's your scene. Mulain is having a theatrical weekend, doing rehearsal for The King and I tomorrow and then backstage with the hilarious Cyrus Broacha for 1 out of 6! What busy little bees the MUs are....

Quick little product MU-tip straight from the cow's mouth? Want a monsoon MUU'D lifter? Pick up a little lip tint by Lakme...it's super cute!!! It put a smile on my lips as soon as MU Sara showed it to me...the heart shaped pot is just lovely and the colours girly and poppy! The new tints come in 4 shades, and the hardest part is picking whether you are a FLIRT, CHARMER, HOTTIE OR SIREN. I am of course all 4 so picked them up! And why not at approx Rs.200 a pot it's a bargain! Tints with a glossy texture, perfect for a pretty pout my darlings. GO GET!
