Anyone out there stuck in a make-up rut? Umm? It happens so easily, we all get stuck in a comfortable routine, same colours, same lines day in day out...B-O-R-I-N-G! U-N-I-N-S-P-I-R-I-N-G! In a word dull.....so Mulain is saying ask yourself what you can do to revamp yourself without spending a fortune..it's easy...take a look at the images above and think which one applies to you. Look at all of them and think how you could do something different. Always focus on the eyes? ...try a strong mouth! Or vice versa. Always wear strong looks on mouth and eyes? Try the focus on just one...or neither?

It will make you feel more creative for sure..I promise and will put a Spring in your step!

Batch 3 of the pro course started today...so welcome to our fat mu make-up community! MUs have been busy all weekend....shooting with magician Ugesh Sakar.......creating a new look for him and watch him do super cool tricks! Mulain is with MU Prajakta helping run her bridal hair styling workshop at the fat mu academy. Mulain will get home and watch the CWG highlights ....glad it's started smoothly....phew!

Mulain has been watching the MUs in action over the last few weeks, busy busy.....loved the Tata show at the Taj Land's End organised by Raelle's Padamsee's ACE productions....... Virginia MU and her team (including fat mu academy students) created Bollywood heros and heroines from the 50s - 90s for them....so much fun! We had a great last batch for the pro course...Mulain hopes you are all doing ok out there my little MU-ettes? Do let Mulain know na.

MU's Xavier, Kamlesh, Joyce and Menaka are heading off to Rajasthan for a Brit film ....we shall miss them all but they'll be back in December so we'll catch up then. Bon voyage and good luck with your super star cast! What fun.

MU's Virginia and Natasha are excited about Batch 3 of the pro course starting on Monday along with the hairstyling workshop. So much to learn....chalo!

Californian Gurls!

Mulain loves Katy Perry's video featuring Snoop Dog....it's SO girly, cotton candy-like, retro, glossy and just de-li-cious...a visual delight...plus you've got pink Afro wigs, retro 50s and 60s inspired make-ups with a futuristic twist. Production design might as well be Mulain heaven..super cool. Lovely winged eye-lines...MAC's Fluid lines are great for these.....shimmery eyeshadows....try Bourjois, Barry M, MAC and fabulous body sheen going on.....try Benefit's Body shimmer....really fun...check out the vid my darlings and think pink!

2 girls... and a common love for fashion, art and ..... paper! Genius and 'so clever'.... are the words that come to mind when you see what they have managed to create with a product we use and take for granted in our everyday lives!

fat mu's bridal show

Today all my MU's did their first ever bridal show live on stage in front of 200 professionals. Mulain was very proud of his MU's Virginia, Natasha and Sara who put up a fantastic show with support from MU's Xavier, Sunita, Pooja , Prajakta and Menaka! ...and not to forget our lovely 'MU'ses Nomita and Maithili for being our beautiful models.

The show was a success and enjoyed by all and the girls demonstrated 3 modern bridal looks- true to fat mu style with a past, present and future theme.

MU Sara went on first to showcase a modern day traditional bride, using a beautiful shimmering bottle green on the eyes, with a definite modern socket contour in a matte brown followed by a matt highlighter on the brow bone... lovely cream foundation swept on with a blush brush in circular motion.... and a lovely deep berry matte mouth. Our lovely model Maithili looked stunning and very regal indeed!

Next was MU Virginia who did a retro reception look. Taking elements of the 70's which are so current and creating a beautiful kaleidescope of colours on the eyes using purples, lilacs, blues and golds ... with glitter to boost! model Nomita looked tres chic and stunning in an authentic 70's saree borrowed from mama Mulain- a sparkly lilac number to compliment the make-up, which was finished off with a lovely nude glossy mouth. Gorgeous!

The last look for the evening was by MU Natasha who introduced the future of make-up by air brushing model Sara and using traditional colours of golds and bronzes on the eyes but with a modern twist... sculpted face and nude lips completed this modern sophisticated look. MU Sara looked lovely!

All in all lovely... with pretty hairstyles created by MU's Prajakta and Menaka to compliment the entire look. Watch this space for detailed breakdowns of the make-ups and pictures too... coming soon!

Trending- spring / summer 2011- Loud mouths

More from London fashion week and the trend for seventies fashion continues. It's as if glitter and colour on the eyes and cheeks were n't enough.... colour seems to have hit the mouth too!

So take reds, oranges, fuschia or any other statement colour in either a matte or glossy texture and play up those lips!

MAKE-UP FOREVER in Mumbai !

Good news mes cheries..... Make-up Forever has finally opened in Mumbai!!!

2 weeks old I hear... they are based at Inorbit Mall in Malad. Definitely go check out their store for some fantastic make-up products we MU's swear by.

Also hear they are recruiting.... so should anyone want to join their wonderful creative team do pop by their store to find out more.

Stains for Autumn

Fresh off the catwalks at London Fashion Week.... for Spring/Summer 2011... although Mulain sees no reason why we can't have the look for this season too!

A classic look all year round that never goes out of style, and a new way to wear lip colour.

Try lip stains, wax or just lipstick..... the trick is to apply by patting it on to your lips with your finger for that lovely hint of colour and a bit of oomph!

Giorgio Armani, Nars and Laura Mercier do some lovely ones.... do check them out ... and if you don't have access to these.... then like I said just try it with any of your lipsticks.... a berry coloured one preferably!! It's a great look!

Instant smooth perfecting touch - gives exactly what the product claims.... instant smoothness!

A balm of sorts, which you smooth over your face prior to make-up application to fill in and smooth out any lines and creases temporarily. Worth checking out - a lot cheaper than botox with no side effects!! .... and it works!!! Within reason of course........Try it.

Trending - Spring / Summer 2011

Glitter is back!..... and so is colour! woo hoo!! Trending at London Fashion Week , glitter a la the Seventies saw a comeback on the catwalks .

Starting with nails either wholly dipped for full on sparkle or just delicately tipped for a slight edge.... glitter edges its way up onto the face to compliment smokey eyes with a touch of bright sparkle on the inner corners or for a full on wow factor on the entire eye! Take it all the way up to the brow, use just as an eyeline, or combine with a rocker edge on the lower lash line.... whatever takes your fancy.... have fun with it....!!

Also back in for next season is COLOUR!! lots of it from bright citrus-y sorbet colours to yummy pretty pastels..... think Spring flowers and Summer fruits.... all sorts .... lots of colour on the cheeks, eyes, lips, nails.... a nice refreshing change from the bleak starkness of the winter trends....

Mulain has been checking out the London fashion week to see what's new on the scene...yet again it's the smokey eye.....nude lip combo....but a new 2010 twist....have a look at where the intensity is....all different shapes and pops of gold to open the eyes. It's exciting....will explore more....interested to compare the originality of the London and Lakme make-up designs....will let you know tomorrow....

Gaga over meat

Mulain was a leetle shocked today when he saw this image of Lady Gaga wearing an outfit made of meat at the MTV music awards.

Apparently the singer's stylist commisioned an L.A. based designer who made this outfit with 50 pounds of sirloin wrapped around a corset and to add to it she had a meat clutch and note the shoes and headdress too!

Mulain is not sure if he is too happy about this... we know Lady Gaga is outrageous in her style and thats what we all love her for but this might be taking it a bit far non?

Her reason:' if we don't stand up for what we believe in, if we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones'.

ummm... not sure if that got the message across........ or did it?! any comments?

Mulain is celebrating Ganpati with his friends today..... yes it's that time of year again when we see Ganesh images, statues everywhere....it's mad here in Mumbai but all enjoying! So we too are celebrating Ganesh and elephants in general! Want to join in the fun...head to Chowpatty or Juhu beach....it's a lovely thing to do / watch / be part of......and always inspiring to any artist!

Mulain has loved watching the academy progress and watching the students grow......just fantastic! Final 2 days have been winding down, analysing shoots and work and now concentration on business chats and final character make-up assessment....Just posting some MU-ettes in action above....hope you enjoy....M x
