These are the shades ....

Mulain just loves this palette...today we are using it in the bridal class on the pro course. Ice / Iced Gold / Aztec Gold / Silver / Golden Apricot / Indian Copper / Bronze / Starry Night....all inspire us as make-up artists to create a wow Indian bride. These shades just lend themselves to the Indian bridal look....mix them in with a fashion bride / traditional bride / blushing bride :)...use them on their own....over a cream shadow perhaps? A really lovely palette to have in your kit. Bridal season is coming up my friends...so brace yourselves for the wedding season and invest in this one. It's a MU-st have!

The MUs are off to the cast and crew screening of ZNMD tomorrow night - we cannot wait...super excited! MU Sunita has been with Kalki for the promo tour doing her maquillage...can't wait to hear about the road trip ...what a hoot! It's sure to be a lovely mu-vie...do go and see it all my darlings. The fat mu team worked on it for the Indian schedule and had a super duper time with the talented Zoya A. She is a great director, a fat mu MU-se for sure.

Quick tip from Mulain..doing a black and white shoot and need to know how colours read in black and white...take a photo of your colour palettes and then turn the image to black and white....think black and white and shades of grey....and texture of course - never forget that!

Geometric eyelines......

MU Virginia was running 60s class today....just loo-ve seeing all the different 60s eyelines / shapes and textures being used. Remember it's all focus and emphasis on the dramatic eyes. If you want to recreate good eyelines at home make sure you have good tools....an eyeline brush / or old lip brush will give you a good, strong effect. Mulain's tip for today is not to rely wholly on the tool most eyelines give you ie...brush and liquid liner combined. Always buy a separate brush, this will last longer and give you more control on your lines. Remember it's a confident strong line not a spindly, split line which can happen with the brushes that are given to you.

Mulain says head to Kryolan and pick up the 5 colour aqua eyeliner palette - so you can vary your colour and know you will get a good, solid eyeline from this.

Keep lips and cheeks light - the eyes are the star of the show! Go for full volume mascara or lashes if you dare! Getting lost.....google Cleopatra and see what inspires you! Yes eyelines go back that far my darlings.

20s class yesterday at the fat mu academy was super fun as per usual...lots of smoke, lots of rose bud lips...silent stars from yesteryear were created. Wondered where the smokey eye came from...well now you know..1920s! The smokey eye never goes out of fashion and is always seen as a glamour classic. In fact Mulain and the MUs will be running 'the art of the smokey eye' workshop on 16th July. Do contact us for more info.

Mulain braved the Mu-mbai rains today to head to Mayur Creations with MUs Virginia and Sunita. It's a wonderful little shop full of little creative gems for your shoots, bridals, events...any dressing up basically. fat mu are designing the make-up and hair for a 1920s play and were on a creative reccie around Bombay. Found the perfect pieces (readymade fingerwaves..brilliant) in this shop and the owners / team were so helpful and kind and nice and let us try out pieces - on us and them!! Great fun.

So Mulain's tip today is go check it out!!! It's at Santa Cruz market, near the station..

Gothic glam!

MAC's Cyber lipstick...a dark glam favourite....

Lakme's dark shade 265 is similar to MAC's Cyber...a slightly cheaper option

IIFA awards are kicking off and Mulain is loving seeing all the glam stars arriving at the airport and gearing up for the shows etc. Have to say think Malaika Arora looked A-M-A-Z-I-N-G getting off a long-haul flight and looking the way she did...full on glossy hair, shades and an amazing traffic stopping red mouth. Good for you girl, Mulain was very impressed. So inspired by this statement lips again make the blog...(we never get bored). MU Sunita was on a make-up reccie around Mu-mbai this week and showed me a cute little find. We all love MAC's Cyber shade of lipstick, lovely to have in your pro kits but also great for those of you who dare to do gothic glam. Turns out Lakme do a similar shade 265...at approx Rs. 250....So for those who can't afford MAC there is an alternative for you. See how we care my darlings....? Mulain would hate anyone to feel left out.

FYF lip quads..MWAH!

MUs Malaika, Rosy and Aswathy were all raving about the FYF (Flawless You Forever) Lip Quads - see above - these little numbers are uber yum, look great and are so comfy to wear. Hope you can see from the piccies above how inviting and delicious these glosses are. The colour combos are like toffees, caramels, hazelnuts, melted chocolates, vanilla, nougat...have I wet your appetites enough?

Bald Gaga!

Mulain saw this a few days ago and was trying to work out real bald or baldcap?...Was watching the clip of her singing on the Paul O'Grady show and thought it was a bald cap...as thought I could see the edges along the forehead and it looked very shiny and different to her face texture..am so curious now....anyone know what the real deal is?

Bye bye dark circles....

Want to get rid of unwanted blemishes and those dark circles and look like you've just had 10 hours of sleep without having to load your face with make-up?... then correct concealing is the answer....

A lot of make-up companies do concealers from light to heavy coverage.....brighteners like the YSL touch eclat which is a fantastic product... but if you're a medium to dark skinned person a lot of these might took too light or go grey/ashy on the skin- means wrong colour- a big no no mes amis... and so look to MAC.

Yes I know its a MAC world and we always try and tell people there's a whole other world out there too when it comes to make-up.... but when it comes to concealers MAC and Bobbi Brown outshine as our favourites! .... and since BB isn't available in India yet.... MAC it is!!

... and so... what ever your skin tone, type and whatever your level of coverage required... there is something for everyone......

Light coverage- don't have particularly dark circles or problem skin but still need that flawless appearance?- opt for their select cover concealers or moisture select cover for dry skins..... creamy and light and easy to blend into the skin for a lovely finish without looking like you have anything on.

Medium -Full coverage or dark circles - opt for their studio finish pure orange 'corrector' and pat over dark circles.... then select a studio finish concealer or studio sculpt concealer in your skin tone and pat over the orange.... don't forget to cover the orange and blend the edges .....et voila!.. bye bye dark circles....

The orange can also be mixed in with the concealer shade and applied if intense coverage not required to cover the not so dark circles.... apply with a medium firm brush, or your fingertips- and don't forget to set with powder! tres importante or it wont last too long.....

Tried and tested- great easy carry in your purse options for women..... try it yourself and let Mulain know what you think.

Duraline by Inglot

Just yesterday a question was posed about if we could bring dried up gel eyeliners back to life ... and guess what... today the answer came in the form of 'Duraline' by Inglot.... a liquid that works with shadows, pigments and glitter to transform into waterproof liners, and a little mixed in with dried up gel liners brings it back to form- tried and tested!
