Louise Brooks...loving the 20s bob!Monday's class in the fat mu academy was looking at the history of make-up and focussing on the last century in particular. We started at 1900 and went right through to 2010.....Lillian Gish to Lady Gaga! Know your Gaga but not your Gish?....get reading my darlings.....you should be able to identify your decades at the bat of an eye......as Madonna said...."Greta Garbo and Monroe, Dietrich and Dimaggio, Marlon Brando, Jimmy Dean...on the cover of a magazine.....Grace Kelly, Harlow, Jean, picture of a beauty queen, Gene Kelly, Fred Astair, Ginger Rogers dance on air....they had style, they had grace...Rita Rayworth gave good face...Lauren, Katherine, Lana too, Bette Davis we love you..."......if you don't know any of the names above start google-ing!!!!
There is much to learn.....eyebrow shapes, lip shapes, eyelines, smoke, glitter, shimmer, gloss! Know your designers, artists, films of the time.....Who invented gloss? Who gave us mascara? When did Disco arrive?...know your stuff my friends...it'll make you a much more exciting and creative artist!
